General information...

England and the Isle of Wight. These are Wightlink, Red Funnel and
Hovertravel. Between them, the three companies offer routes a number
of different routes and methods of travel. Approximate times, costs
and some honest advice on crossing the Solent is discussed on this
site.
You can cross the Solent as a foot passenger, or with a car. Car
ferry routes run from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East
Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth. Foot passenger routes run from
Portsmouth to Ryde, Southsea to Ryde, and Southampton to Cowes.
None of the ferries take more than an hour to cross, but if you're
in a rush, the hovercraft will only take you ten minutes.
